From the central square of Pylos (Πύλος), take a street that rises towards the top of the village, in order to reach the small square which hosts games for children. Climb the small staircase on the other side of the square, and reach the road that goes towards Methoni. More precisely, cross it and take the small road that heads towards the village of Kinigou (Κυνηγού).

After about 1 km, follow the gravel path to the right which leads to a few houses. It turns into a dirt track, which you follow while enjoying the panorama. Cross the road that comes your way, and follow the straight path parallel to the road to Methoni. After passing an isolated house, continue south along the steeply rising path.

This steep climb allows you to join the road to the village of Mesochori, and enjoy a last view of the magnificent bay of Navarino. Follow the road to the left for about 300m. Shortly after the source on your left, take the track which goes down on the right. It weaves in and out among the olive trees for about 2 km, to the intersection with the road that leads to the village of Mesochori. On this portion, you can choose to follow the road rather than take this track.

Mesochori (Μεσοχώρι), 2 h from Pylos. The peaceful village of Mesochori has two cafes on the main street, take the opportunity to take a break ! In the village, after the second café and before the gas station, take a small street on the right, it leads you to the cemetery which offers pretty views of the plain and the coast. Continue on this street which becomes a track and leads you to the hamlet of Varakes (Βαρακες). Cross it, a path leading to a few houses allows you to continue south.

After about 3.5 km on this track, you arrive on the main road of Methoni, in front of the small church of Saint Athanasius (Άγιος Αθανάσιος). Follow the road for 200 m to the south, then take the first small road on the left. Follow it for 700 m, then take the first small road on the right again. Follow this road straight for 2.5 km, it takes you to the center of Methoni. Then join the main street which is on your right.
